Seminar "Global Learning for a Common Future"
by ESJ Administrator - Thursday, 24 February 2011, 11:48 AM

The Seminar "Global Learning for a Common Future" promoted by Education for Social Justice project was held on the 4th and 5th of July in Sozopol Bulgaria – where global issues, Human Rights, Social Justice and Cultural Differences were discussed by participating teachers and educators of partner countries.

The teachers had the opportunity to share experiences of their work at schools with the themes of Global Education, exchanging ideas, methodologies and presenting concrete classes or approaches. It was also held a workshop on "How to alert and encourage young people to issues of social inequality" and several sessions as those on the use of images or interactive tools to work in the classroom.

The seminar, held by the Black Sea, was attended by three dozen participants, among project coordinators and teachers of the schools involved from the participating countries. 'Fantastic, I did not expect to get so many good ideas for my work!" or ‘exceeded my expectations, I really liked the methodologies with images, useful for working with young people' were some comments in the final evaluation.

Now each participant takes to their country the ideas, the shared tools and materials, and will replicate to their colleagues and to other schools. Join us and discover more on the website of your country.

Education for Social Justice
by ESJ Administrator - Friday, 5 March 2010, 12:02 PM

Education for social justice is an international project coordinated by Leeds Development Education Center covering six European Union countries (United Kingdom, Portugal, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Latvia and Estonia).

The project objectives are to create great public awareness of Millennium Development Goals, particularly among young people, to create a climate where young people feel enthusiastic about taking action for a fairer world.

One of the key elements in creating change is to engage the next generation of decision-makers in active support for social change. Young people are often very motivated by their ideals to take action so the project will train and support teachers to deliver exciting lessons which make connections to live issues. This project will support the development of school communities where there is a strong ethos for Social Justice - providing teachers with materials & methodologies to inspire young people and giving students the confidence and the tools they need to make their actions successful and thus enthusiasm their peers.
